Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup whipped cream or buttercream frosting
  • Optional decorations: pastel food coloring, edible flowers, or gold flakes

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan.
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla.
  • Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, mixing just until combined.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • Cool cake completely. Frost with whipped cream or buttercream. Decorate with your favorite aesthetic elements.

Notes

To store, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Freeze slices individually for longer storage and let come to room temperature before serving.
