Ingredients

Meatball Mixture

  • 1 small yellow onion, grated about 1/4 cup
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 lb 93% lean ground turkey 16 oz
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup minced fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Grate the yellow onion into a large mixing bowl along with the garlic cloves.
  • Add the ground turkey, grated Parmesan, panko breadcrumbs, egg, minced basil, minced parsley, milk, kosher salt, dried oregano, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the bowl.
  • Gently combine the ingredients until just mixed, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  • Portion the mixture into approximately 20 meatballs, about 1½ inches wide.
  • Transfer the meatballs onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased, and brush the tops lightly with olive oil.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25–28 minutes, or until the centers reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

Notes

Do not overmix the meat. Uniform size for meatballs ensures even cooking. Check internal temperature for doneness. Use fresh herbs for best flavor. Allow meatballs to rest before serving.
