Ingredients
  

Cake

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder optional, for chocolate version

Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • food coloring or melted chocolate optional, for flavor variation

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch cake pan.
  • Cream together butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mix, alternating with milk. Mix until smooth.
  • (Optional) Stir in cocoa powder for a chocolate version.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before frosting.
  • To make the frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then milk and vanilla. Beat until fluffy.
  • Frost and decorate your cake as desired.

Notes

Customize the flavor with cocoa, extracts, or food coloring. Use a piping bag for personalized decoration or try baking as cupcakes for individual servings.
