Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9×13 inch pan.
  • In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and lemon zest. Pulse until even.
  • Add cold butter, egg, and vanilla. Pulse until a crumbly dough forms.
  • Pat half of the dough into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Filling

  • In a medium bowl, combine ½ cup sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Mix, then gently fold in the blackberries.
  • Sprinkle the blackberry mixture evenly over the crust.
  • Crumble the remaining dough over the berry layer.

Baking

  • Bake for about 45 minutes. Look for a lightly browned top to indicate doneness.
  • Remove from the oven and cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container. Use cold butter for flaky texture. Avoid overmixing and ensure thorough cooling for clean cuts.
