Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan by greasing or lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and light brown sugar, whisking until smooth and shiny.
  • Add the large egg and egg yolk, mixing until creamy.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract to distribute the flavor.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.

Baking

  • Fold in the chocolate chips if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing it out evenly.
