Ingredients

Chocolate Syrup & Ganache

  • 1 cup chocolate simple syrup for moisture
  • 1 batch milk chocolate ganache for a smooth, rich flavor

Frosting & Cake Layers

  • 1 cup chocolate frosting for a sweet, creamy texture
  • 4 pieces 7-inch round chocolate cake layers for structure and base flavor

Baking Essentials

  • 1 cup sugar for sweetness
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder to intensify chocolate flavor
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch as a thickening agent
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to enhance flavor
  • 1 cup milk to add moisture
  • 1/2 cup butter for rich texture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract as a flavor enhancer

Instructions

Preparation of Chocolate Simple Syrup

  • Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely, then mix in 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder and bring to a slight simmer until thickened. Let it cool.

Cooking the Milk Chocolate Ganache

  • Melt 650 grams of milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. Stir until melted, then pour in 217 grams of heavy cream and mix until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.

Making the Chocolate Frosting

  • Begin with 1 cup of American buttercream and gradually mix in 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder. For a smoother consistency, blend in 2 teaspoons of heavy cream.

Assembling the Cake

  • On a cake plate, place one chocolate cake layer and soak it with chocolate simple syrup. Spread a layer of milk chocolate ganache over it.
  • Place the second chocolate cake layer on top and repeat the soaking and ganache process until all layers are stacked.
  • Cover the entire outside of the cake with chocolate frosting, beginning with a thin layer for a crumb coat. Chill for 15-20 minutes and then apply a thicker layer.
  • Decorate as desired and let it set before serving.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. Chill the ganache before spreading and always taste the syrup to adjust sweetness.
