Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Whisk
  • Serving Cups

Ingredients

Apple Layer

  • 3 cups peeled and chopped apples brings fresh, crisp tartness to balance the caramel
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar deep, molasses‑like sweetness that caramelizes beautifully
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon adds warm, nostalgic spice
  • 1 tbsp butter helps the apples soften and caramelize

Creamy & Caramel Layer

  • 4 cups whipped cream light, fluffy contrast to the warm apples
  • 0.5 cup caramel sauce rich, glossy sweetness to tie it all together

Instructions

  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped apples, brown sugar and cinnamon. Let simmer, stirring occasionally, until the apples soften and the sugar melts into a golden glaze.
  • Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly so the syrup thickens and the apples don’t melt the cream layer.
  • Prepare serving cups. Spoon a layer of the warm caramelized apples into the bottom of each. Add a generous scoop of whipped cream on top of the apples in each cup.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream layer so it cascades and creates that dessert magic.
  • Refrigerate the cups for at least 30 minutes so the layers set and the flavors mingle. Then serve chilled (or let sit at room temperature for a few minutes, if preferred).

Notes

Use tart apples like Granny Smith to balance the sweetness. Let the apple mixture cool a little before layering to avoid melting the whipped cream. This dessert is perfect for prepping ahead and gathering around with friends or loved ones.
