Ingredients
For the Cake
- 1 package chocolate cake mix For moisture and texture

- 1 3.4 oz package instant chocolate pudding mix For creaminess

Instructions
Preparation of Cake
- Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions, combining with eggs, water, and oil, then mix until smooth. Pour batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
Cooling the Cake
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
Prepare the Pudding
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and 2 cups of milk until fully combined; let it sit for about 5 minutes to thicken.
Cutting the Cake
- Cut the cooled cake into cubes for layering in the trifle.
Layering the Trifle
- Begin with a layer of cake cubes in your trifle bowl, then add a layer of pudding, followed by whipped topping and chocolate chips. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up.
- Finish with a layer of whipped topping and sprinkle crushed cookies and chocolate shavings or cocoa powder on top.

- Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
