Preparation

  • Start by preheating your oven to 350°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to evenly distribute.
  • In another bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients with the milk, alternating, until just combined.

Creating the Cake

  • In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and brown sugar for the filling.
  • Pour half of the batter into a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture over the batter.
  • Spread the remaining batter over the cinnamon mixture.
  • Gently swirl the batter with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

Allow the cake to cool before icing to prevent melting. For extra flair, sprinkle cinnamon on top.
