Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour structure and texture
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar sweetness and moisture
  • 2 tsp baking powder leavening for lightness
  • 1/2 tsp salt enhances flavor
  • 3/4 cup milk preferably whole milk, adds moisture
  • 2 large eggs binding and moisture
  • 1/2 cup melted butter fat for richness
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract flavor

For the filling

  • 1/3 cup softened butter for filling, richness
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for filling, caramel-like sweetness
  • 1.5 tbsp ground cinnamon for filling, warm spice
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg or cardamom optional, additional spice flavor

For the streusel topping

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar sweetness and texture
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon adds warmth
  • 2 tbsp butter for crumbliness
  • 2 tbsp flour structure

For the icing

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar sweetness
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream thin consistency
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract flavor

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine your all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, folding gently.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and optional nutmeg or cardamom for the filling.
  • Pour about half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Spoon the cinnamon filling mixture over the batter.
  • Add the remaining batter on top of the cinnamon filling.
  • To make the streusel topping, mix together the brown sugar, cinnamon, softened butter, and flour in a small bowl.
  • Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the top of the loaf.

Baking

  • Bake the loaf in your preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Icing

  • While the cake cools, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla extract.
  • After the loaf has cooled completely, drizzle the icing over the top.

Notes

For best results, measure flour accurately and cool the melted butter slightly before use.
