- 1 pound ground beef provides structure and protein
- 1 oz Lipton Onion Soup Mix adds savory flavor
- 1 large egg, beaten helps bind ingredients
- 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs provides texture and moisture
- 1/4 cup whole milk adds moisture
- 1/4 cup ketchup enhances flavor and adds moisture
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce richens flavor
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder adds depth
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper provides seasoning
Sweet Ketchup Glaze
- 1/4 cup ketchup adds flavor and moisture
- 1 tablespoon light brown sugar provides sweetness
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard OR dijon mustard adds tang
Instructions
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350℉.
- Spray your 9×5 loaf pan with cooking spray or line a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil and spray the foil lightly.
Mixing
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled ground beef with Lipton Onion Soup Mix, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Mix gently either with clean hands or a spoon to achieve an even consistency without overmixing.
Shaping
- Press the meatloaf mixture into the prepared loaf pan or shape it into an oval loaf on the lined baking sheet.
- Ensure it's formed well to avoid cracks during baking.
Topping
- For the glaze, blend ketchup, light brown sugar, and mustard in a small bowl until smooth.
- Spread this topping evenly over the meatloaf.
Baking
- Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 165℉.
Resting
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and allow it to rest for 5-8 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Use lean ground beef, mix gently, and experiment with different types of mustards for the glaze.
