Ingredients

For the Brownie Batter

  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar (sweetness)
  • cup vegetable oil (moisture)
  • ¼ cup milk (moisture)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract (flavor)
  • 1 large egg (structure)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (structure)
  • ½ cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder (rich flavor)
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda (leavening)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (enhances flavor)
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (chocolaty goodness)

For Serving

  • Flakey Sea Salt (optional garnish, enhances flavor)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Generously grease an 8-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix the granulated sugar with the vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Add the egg and beat briefly until incorporated, about 30 seconds.
  • In a separate bowl, combine all the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet batter until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan and sprinkle some extra chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out damp but not with wet batter.

Cooling

  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Make sure ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Allowing brownies to cool completely enhances cutting.
