Ingredients
  

Cake Base

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Frosting & Decorations

  • 2 cups buttercream frosting or whipped cream/cream cheese frosting
  • fondant, edible glitter, sprinkles, food coloring gels, candy melts, chocolate chips as needed for decoration

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease cake pans and bake your chosen cake base until golden and springy. Cool completely.
  • Trim domed tops with a serrated knife. Stack layers with frosting between for stability.
  • Apply a thin crumb coat of frosting to trap crumbs. Chill for 20 minutes.
  • Decorate with the main frosting layer, using piping bags, fondant, or food coloring as needed to fit the theme.
  • Finish with sprinkles, edible glitter, or candies for added personality.
