Preparation

  • Cut stale sourdough bread into uniform cubes to help them cook evenly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed sourdough with olive oil. Toss gently to coat.
  • Add garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Toss again to ensure even seasoning.
  • Preheat your oven and spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, watching carefully as they cook.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Use day-old sourdough for best texture. Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet for even browning and toss halfway through baking.
