Preparation

  • Begin by browning the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir it frequently, allowing it to melt and gradually turn a rich golden brown. Watch carefully as it develops a nutty aroma, which indicates it's ready.
  • Once the butter is browned, add the entire bag of mini marshmallows to the saucepan. Stir them into the melted butter until they are fully incorporated and begin to melt.
  • After the marshmallows have melted, stir in the vanilla extract and fine sea salt. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly blended.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and gently fold in the Rice Krispies (or Rice Chex) using a wooden spoon or spatula to combine.
  • Next, gently fold in the chopped Heath bars, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  • Prepare a 9×13-inch baking dish by greasing it lightly or lining it with parchment paper. Transfer the mixture into the dish and press it down firmly and evenly.
  • Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes before cutting into squares for serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure you stir the butter constantly while browning and mix the marshmallows until fully melted. Press the mixture firmly into the pan to hold its shape and allow it to cool completely for clean edges. Store in an airtight container.
