  • ½ teaspoon Baking Powder Leavening agent

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup Butter, Softened Adds moisture and richness
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Sweetness and depth of flavor
  • 1 unit Egg Binding ingredient
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract Flavor enhancer
  • ½ cup Sourdough Discard (Unfed, Inactive) Adds tang and moisture

Mix-Ins

  • 1 ½ cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips Sweetness and texture

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter and brown sugar together until creamy and light.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture, stirring until homogenous.
  • Gently mix in the sourdough discard.
  • Gradually fold the dry flour mixture into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.

Baking

  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.

Notes

These blondies can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. They pair wonderfully with coffee or as a dessert after meals.
