Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups All-Purpose Flour provides structure
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder adds rich chocolate flavor
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda functions as a leavening agent
  • 1 tsp Salt enhances overall flavor

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature adds moisture and richness
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar sweetens and helps with texture
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar, lightly packed contributes to chewiness and moisture
  • 2 Large Eggs, room temperature binds ingredients and adds richness
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract introduces warmth and depth of flavor

Mix-ins

  • 1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet or Milk Chocolate Chips adds decadent chocolate bursts
  • 1 cup Caramel Flavored Chips infuses a sweet, buttery flavor
  • Sea Salt Flakes for sprinkling over top of cookies
  • Caramel Sauce or Dulce de Leche optional, for drizzling over the top of cookies

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the large eggs, one at a time, to the butter and sugar mixture, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

Mixing and Baking

  • Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips and caramel flavored chips using a rubber spatula.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes, or until edges look set and tops are slightly soft.
  • Sprinkle the cookies immediately with sea salt flakes after removing them from the oven.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • Drizzle with caramel sauce or dulce de leche if desired before serving.

Notes

Make sure to use room temperature butter and eggs for better mixing and texture. For a richer flavor, use high-quality chocolate chips.
