  • 1 tsp Baking Soda helps cookies rise
  • 1 tsp Salt enhances flavor

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature adds moisture and richness
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar for sweetness and texture
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar, lightly packed adds moisture and flavor
  • 2 Large Eggs, room temperature binds ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Semi-Sweet or Milk Chocolate Chips for chocolatey chunks
  • 1 cup Caramel Flavored Chips adds chewy caramel flavor
  • Sea Salt Flakes for sprinkling over top of cookies
  • Caramel Sauce or Dulce de Leche, optional for drizzling over the top of cookies

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by preheating your oven to a moderate temperature.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and light brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the large eggs, one at a time, into the butter mixture.
  • Add the vanilla extract to the wet ingredients and mix until well-combined.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips along with the caramel flavored chips.
  • Scoop generous portions of the cookie dough onto a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Before placing the cookies in the oven, sprinkle a few sea salt flakes over the top of each dough mound.

Baking

  • Bake until the cookies are set but still soft in the center.
  • Once baked, allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • If desired, drizzle caramel sauce or dulce de leche over the cooled cookies.

Notes

For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature and do not over-mix the dough.
