Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Oven

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup salted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar preferably dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Add softened butter and brown sugar to a bowl. Cream together using a spoon until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the flour and stir until fully incorporated. The dough may appear crumbly at first but will come together as you mix.
  • Roll the dough into 2-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Gently flatten the tops of each dough ball with your hand or a flat object.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then enjoy warm or transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

Use dark brown sugar for a deeper flavor and soft texture. Don’t overmix—stop as soon as the dough comes together. Avoid chilling the dough for best results. Use fully softened butter to make hand mixing easy and smooth.
