Blondie Base

Cinnamon Layer

  • 2 tablespoons melted butter adds richness
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar enhances sweetness
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon provides flavor

Glaze

  • 1.25 cups confectioners' sugar adds sweetness and smooth texture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract adds flavor
  • 3-4 tablespoons heavy cream or milk adds moisture and smoothness
  • 1 pinch salt balances sweetness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Begin by melting the butter in a large bowl until it’s completely liquid.
  • Whisk the brown sugar and granulated sugar into the melted butter until well combined.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the tablespoon of vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add this dry mix to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.

Cinnamon Layer

  • In a small bowl, prepare the cinnamon layer by mixing two tablespoons of melted butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon.

Baking

  • Pour half of the blondie batter into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Drizzle the cinnamon mixture over the first layer of batter, swirling it gently.
  • Spoon the remaining blondie batter on top of the cinnamon layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the blondies to cool completely in the baking dish.

Glazing

  • While the blondies are cooling, prepare the glaze by whisking together confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, heavy cream or milk, and a pinch of salt.
  • Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the blondies in an even layer.

Notes

Store the blondies at room temperature in an airtight container for up to three days. They can also be refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
