Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour (structure)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (flavor enhancement)
  • ½ cup cocoa powder (chocolate flavor)

Wet Ingredients

  • cup unsalted butter (dairy or vegan, richness)
  • cup packed brown sugar (moisture and flavor)
  • ½ cup granulated white sugar (sweetness)
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract (aroma)
  • 3-5 tablespoons milk (dairy or plant-based, moisture)

Add-ins

  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks (semi-sweet, dark, milk chocolate, or allergy/dairy-free)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Begin by gathering all your ingredients in a mixing bowl. Measure out the all-purpose flour, salt, and cocoa powder, then add them together to ensure an even blend. Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly to prevent lumps.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk or use a spatula to mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the pure vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture, blending until evenly combined.
  • Slowly incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, folding gently until smooth with no dry pockets.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of milk to loosen the batter. Stir in and adjust with additional milk as necessary until the desired consistency is achieved.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks until evenly distributed.

Notes

Ensure your butter is at room temperature for easy mixing. Taste and adjust sweetness or chocolate intensity as desired.
