  • 5 teaspoons sugar for sweetness

Preparation

  • Begin by melting the butter in a mixing bowl. Allow it to cool slightly.
  • Add the brown sugar to the melted butter. Stir until well combined.
  • Incorporate the beaten egg into the mixture and whisk gently.
  • Add the vanilla extract and stir until evenly distributed.
  • Gradually add the flour and pinch of salt to the wet mixture and stir just until combined.
  • In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together and set aside.

Baking

  • Lightly grease your baking dish and pour the batter into it, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture over the top of the batter.
  • Place the baking dish in a preheated oven. Bake until golden brown around the edges and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Once out of the oven, let the dish cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for smoother blending. Avoid overmixing the batter after adding flour to ensure a tender final product. Experiment with topping variations like nuts or dried fruits.
