Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • In a skillet, heat the canola oil over medium heat. Add the diced celery, minced garlic, and diced onion, cooking for 5–7 minutes until they're tender and the onion turns translucent. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork. Add the cooled vegetable mixture, bread crumbs, herbs, eggs, salt, pepper, and milk. Mix gently until combined and let rest for 5–10 minutes.

Cooking

  • Shape the mixture into a long loaf on the lined sheet pan. Bake for approximately 40 minutes or until cooked through and slightly browned on top. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  • Prepare the garlic butter sauce. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan, add whole garlic cloves, and sauté until golden (2–3 minutes). Pour in chicken stock and water; bring to a simmer. Stir in butter and chopped parsley, season with salt and pepper.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh salad. Leftovers make great sandwiches or toppings for salad.
