Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey Use lean ground turkey for a healthier option.
  • ½ cup diced yellow onion
  • 4 cloves minced garlic Fresh garlic adds significant flavor.
  • ½ tsp kosher salt Adjust to taste.
  • ¼ tsp black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes Adds a hint of heat.
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 3 cups broccoli florets Fresh or frozen.
  • 8 oz medium shell pasta Can be substituted with other pasta types.
  • ⅔ cup grated Parmesan For a creamy texture.
  • 4 tbsp butter Helps to create a creamy sauce.

Instructions

Cooking

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until it starts to brown.
  • Stir in the diced onion and allow it to soften for approximately 5 minutes until the onions become translucent.
  • Add the minced garlic, kosher salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the pot. Stir until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and add the broccoli florets. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer before adding the uncooked medium shell pasta.
  • Cook the pasta uncovered, stirring occasionally, until it reaches an al dente texture, which should take about 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Once the pasta is cooked, remove the pot from the heat and incorporate the butter and grated Parmesan. Stir until the pasta is well-coated and creamy.

Notes

For best results, store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat on low heat with a splash of broth if needed.
