Homemade Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed for moisture and sweetness
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted for richness and moisture
  • 1 cup granulated sugar for sweetness and texture
  • 1 large egg, beaten for structure and moisture
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour for structure
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda for leavening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to enhance flavor
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon for warmth and flavor

Cinnamon Swirl Topping

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar for moisture and sweetness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter until well combined.
  • Stir in the granulated sugar until fully combined.
  • Add the beaten egg and vanilla extract, mixing until everything is combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Mixing

  • Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar with the remaining cinnamon for the swirl.

Assembly

  • Pour half of the banana batter into a prepared loaf pan.
  • Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture evenly over the banana batter.
  • Pour the remaining banana batter over the cinnamon mixture.
  • Top with the remaining cinnamon-brown sugar mixture.

Baking

  • Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 60 minutes.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  • Turn the loaf pan upside down and gently tap to release the bread.
  • Let the banana bread cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the sweetest flavor and moisture. Don't overmix the batter.
