  • 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry, thawed Thawed in the fridge, then at room temperature for 15 minutes.
  • 1/2 cup jam Choose a flavor like raspberry, apricot, or strawberry.
  • 1 each egg, beaten For egg wash to give shine.
  • to taste each raw sugar or turbinado sugar For sprinkling on top for texture.
  • as needed each flour For dusting to prevent sticking.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Lightly dust a clean surface with flour and unroll the sheets of puff pastry.
  • Roll out the pastry to your desired thickness, ensuring it's even.
  • Cut each sheet into squares or circles, about 4 inches wide, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Assembly

  • Brush the edges of each pastry piece with the beaten egg.
  • Spoon about 1 tablespoon of jam into the center of each pastry piece.
  • Fold the corners of each pastry toward the center and pinch the edges to seal.
  • Sprinkle raw sugar on top of each tart.

Baking

  • Bake the tarts in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store any leftovers at room temperature for up to two days in an airtight container. They can also be refrigerated for about a week or frozen for up to two months.
