Ingredients

Base ingredients

  • 2 cups water liquid base
  • 1 cup granulated sugar adds sweetness
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice provides tartness
  • 2 limes zest enhances lime flavor

Optional garnish

  • 1/4 cup lime zest optional for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the water and granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the syrup cool slightly. Ensure it is warm but not hot before mixing.

Mixing

  • Add fresh lime juice and zest to the cooled syrup. Stir until well combined.

Freezing

  • Transfer the mixture to an airtight container, spreading it evenly and not too deep. Cover and place in the freezer.
  • Let it freeze for several hours or ideally overnight until fully set.

Serving

  • Remove from the freezer and let sit for a few minutes if very firm before scooping.
  • Serve in bowls or cups, garnished with additional lime zest if desired.

Notes

Allow syrup to cool completely before adding lime juice. Use high-quality fresh limes for the best flavor. Churn in an ice cream maker for a silkier texture.
