Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Whisk
  • Rolling pin or food processor
  • Spoon or spatula

Ingredients

Base Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix prepared according to package instructions
  • 12.8 oz hot fudge warmed slightly

Pudding Layers

  • 2 packages chocolate instant pudding mix 3.4 oz each
  • 1 3/4 cups milk cold, per pudding packet

Topping

  • 8 oz Cool Whip thawed
  • 30 Oreos crushed, divided

Instructions

  • Prepare chocolate cake as instructed on the box. Bake, then let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Using the end of a spoon, poke holes all over the surface of the cake.
  • Warm the hot fudge just enough to pour, then drizzle evenly over the cake, allowing it to sink into the holes.
  • Let the cake cool completely before continuing.
  • In a bowl, whisk one pudding mix with milk until smooth. Pour over the cooled cake. Chill for 20 minutes to slightly thicken.
  • In another bowl, prepare the second pudding mix with milk. Chill for 10 minutes, then fold in Cool Whip gently.
  • Stir in 3/4 of the crushed Oreos into the Cool Whip mixture. Spread this over the cake as the final layer.
  • Sprinkle remaining Oreos on top. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

Add gummy worms for a playful touch, or experiment with flavored pudding or Oreos. For crunchier topping, wait to add final Oreo layer until serving.
