Cake Base

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour For structure

Pudding Layers

  • 2 packages instant chocolate pudding (3.9 oz each) Provides texture
  • 4 cups cold milk For creamy base
  • 1 cup cold cream cheese Adds richness
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For sweetness
  • 2 cups cold heavy cream For whipping

Trifle Assembly

  • 0.67 cups crushed Oreos Adds crunch
  • 3 cups chopped Oreos For texture
  • 14 pieces whole Oreos for garnish For presentation

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to a suitable baking temperature.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together to aerate the mixture.
  • Slowly incorporate hot water into the dry ingredients until thoroughly mixed.
  • Add instant coffee, buttermilk, vegetable oil, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract, blending until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into a prepared baking dish evenly.
  • Bake per your oven instructions until firm and a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely.

Pudding Preparation

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding with cold milk until thickened.
  • In another mixing bowl, blend cold cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until smooth.
  • Gradually fold thickened chocolate pudding into cream cheese mixture.
  • Whip cold heavy cream until soft peaks form and fold it gently into the pudding-cream cheese mixture.

Trifle Assembly

  • Layer chopped Oreos at the bottom of the trifle dish.
  • Spoon creamy filling over the Oreos and continue layering until finished.
  • Top with crushed Oreos and garnish with whole Oreos. Refrigerate for at least a few hours, preferably overnight.

Notes

Ensure the cake has cooled completely before assembling to prevent mushiness. Use cold ingredients for setting. For added flavor, consider adding chocolate chips or more crushed Oreos between layers.
