Protein Brownie Post Workout Treat

These protein brownies combine rich chocolate and nutty almond butter, making them an easy and satisfying post-workout snack.

Ingredients
  

For the brownies

  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted butter, softened (for greasing the pan) Use to grease the baking pan.
  • ¾ cup All-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Cocoa powder Make sure it's fresh for best results.
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ cup Vanilla protein powder
  • 1 ⅓ sticks Unsalted butter (1 stick plus 5 tablespoons)
  • ½ cup Almond butter, creamy For mixing into the brownies.
  • 1 ¼ cups C&H® Light Brown Sugar, packed
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 large Egg yolk Adds richness.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup Mini chocolate chips

For the chocolate drizzle

  • ¼ cup Almond butter, creamy For drizzling.
  • ½ cup Bittersweet chocolate chips Adds richness to the drizzle.
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted butter For melting with chocolate chips.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan with the softened unsalted butter.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and vanilla protein powder. Stir until well mixed.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, melt the unsalted butter and almond butter together until smooth.
  • Add the packed light brown sugar and stir until fully incorporated.
  • Whisk in the eggs and egg yolk until fully combined.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Ingredients

  • Gradually fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula until no dry flour is visible.
  • Fold in the mini chocolate chips.

Bake

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth it into an even layer.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Prepare Chocolate Drizzle

  • Combine the bittersweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in short bursts until melted and smooth.

Finish Brownies

  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then place them on a wire rack.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate mixture over the top and let it set before slicing.

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. For a different twist, try adding nuts or using different types of chocolate.
