Ingredients
  

Puff Pastry and Apples

  • 2 sheets puff pastry Lightness and flakiness
  • 2 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Tartness and freshness

Flavorings

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Prevents browning
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Warmth and spice
  • 1/4 cup sugar Sweetness

Instructions
 

Preparing the Apples

  • Core and slice the apples thinly, about 1/8 inch thick. Place them in a bowl and drizzle with lemon juice.

Preparing the Pastry

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • On a floured surface, unroll one sheet of puff pastry and roll it out to smooth the surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.
  • Cut the pastry into strips approximately 2 inches wide.

Assembling the Roses

  • Place a few slices of apple along one edge of each pastry strip, overlapping them slightly.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over the apple slices.
  • Fold the bottom part of the pastry strip over the apple slices and shape each into a rose.

Baking

  • Place the assembled apple roses into a greased muffin tin.
  • Bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.

Serving

  • Sprinkle powdered sugar on cooled apple roses before serving.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Store leftovers at room temperature for 1 day or in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freeze for up to a month. Reheat at 350°F for 10-15 minutes.
