  • Cake Stand

Ingredients

The Cake Base

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Frosting and Decoration

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • pink food coloring to tint frosting
  • edible gold glitter or gold leaf

Instructions

  • Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla, then alternate adding flour mixture and milk until smooth.
  • Divide batter into two 9-inch pans, lined and greased. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden and springy to the touch. Cool completely.
  • Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until fluffy. Tint most of the frosting pink, leaving some white for contrast.
  • Place one cake layer on a stand, spread frosting, then add the second. Cover the cake with pink frosting, smoothing with a spatula.
  • Dust gold glitter over the top, press sugar pearls around the base, and add gold leaf accents for a magical finish.

Notes

For variations, try strawberry flavoring, chocolate cake layers, or an ombre pink gradient. Use cupcakes for easy serving at parties.
