Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well blended.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until smooth.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • If using gel food coloring, divide the dough and mix in your chosen colors to achieve desired hues.
  • Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Baking

  • Scoop out tablespoons of dough and roll into balls, then roll in powdered sugar.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the cookie balls on it with space in between.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, enjoy the vibrant, sweet tastes of spring!

Notes

Use room-temperature butter for better mixing and measure flour accurately. Chill the dough to prevent excessive spreading.
