Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Trifle Dish or 9×13-inch Pan
  • Plastic Wrap

Ingredients

Pudding Base

  • 1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix the creamy base that ties it all together
  • 2 cups cold milk for mixing the pudding
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk adds rich sweetness
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed makes the pudding light and airy

Layers and Garnish

  • 1 box vanilla wafers creates soft cake-like layers
  • 3 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1.5 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • extra strawberries or banana slices optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Add the sweetened condensed milk and whisk again until well blended.
  • Using a spatula, gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. This is your creamy pudding base.
  • In a trifle dish or 9×13-inch pan, layer vanilla wafers at the bottom, followed by sliced bananas, then strawberries. Spoon over a layer of pudding mixture. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with pudding on top.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld and the wafers soften.
  • Just before serving, top with a final layer of whipped topping and garnish with extra strawberry or banana slices if desired. Serve chilled.

Notes

Make sure to use ripe bananas and pat your strawberries dry to avoid excess moisture. The longer the pudding chills, the better the texture becomes. This dessert is best enjoyed within 3 days.
