Equipment

  • Air Fryer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Piping Bag with Star Tip
  • Small Saucepan
  • Spoon or spatula

Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter plus 1 tablespoon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup plain flour King Arthur all-purpose recommended
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

For the Coating

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon powder freshly ground preferred

Instructions

  • In a medium pan, combine the water, unsalted butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and stir in the flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat.
  • Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and let cool for 4–5 minutes. Add egg and vanilla essence. Mix until smooth and pipeable.
  • Spoon dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and spray basket with nonstick spray. Pipe or spoon small pieces into basket.
  • Brush tops of churros with butter. Air fry for 10–12 minutes until golden and crisp. Work in batches if needed.
  • Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Toss warm churros in the mixture until fully coated.
  • Serve immediately with chocolate sauce, Nutella, caramel, or honey. Enjoy!

Notes

Cool the dough before adding the egg to avoid scrambling. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer — batch cooking ensures crispness. Toss churros in cinnamon sugar while warm for best coating. Brush with butter for extra flavor and golden finish.
