  • 1 cup self-rising flour Provides structure and lift
  • 1 large egg For egg wash, adds a glossy finish
  • 1/2 tsp salt Enhances flavor
  • Toppings (e.g., sesame seeds, everything bagel seasoning)

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of Greek yogurt with 1 cup of self-rising flour. Use a spoon or spatula to mix until fully combined, forming a thick, sticky dough.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of salt over the dough and gently fold it in using your spatula, ensuring even distribution.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about a minute until it feels less sticky.

Shaping

  • Divide the dough into about four equal portions and roll each into a ball.
  • Make a hole in the center of each ball to create the bagel shape, stretching the dough gently.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the formed bagels on the prepared sheet.
  • Whisk the egg in a small bowl to create an egg wash and brush it over the tops of the bagels.
  • Sprinkle your choice of toppings over the bagels and ensure they are evenly distributed.
  • Bake the bagels until golden brown and cooked through, approximately 20 minutes.

Notes

Use room temperature yogurt for easier mixing. Avoid over-kneading to prevent tough bagels. Experiment with different toppings for varied flavors.
