Equipment

  • Heart-shaped cake pan
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Electric Mixer
  • Spatula
  • Wire Rack

Ingredients

Cake Base

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour for a soft, tender crumb
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder for gentle rise
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda adds lift and lightness
  • 1/4 tsp salt balances sweetness
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened, for moisture and flavor
  • 3/4 cup sugar or honey adds sweetness and warmth
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 3/4 cup Greek yogurt adds tang and moisture
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract for aroma and flavor
  • a few drops pink food coloring optional, for a dreamy hue

Frosting

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar for a silky frosting
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream to loosen the frosting
  • fresh berries or sprinkles for decoration
  • edible flowers or gold flakes optional, for a vintage aesthetic

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a heart-shaped cake pan with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat softened butter and sugar (or honey) until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Mix in Greek yogurt gently until incorporated for a moist, creamy batter.
  • Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Add food coloring if desired.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For the frosting: whisk together powdered sugar and milk (or cream) until smooth and spreadable. Add a drop of pink coloring if desired.
  • Frost the cooled cake evenly. Decorate with berries, sprinkles, or edible flowers as desired.
  • Slice and serve your Heart Cake Birthday with love!

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Avoid overmixing for a tender crumb. Cool completely before frosting to prevent melting. Decorate simply for a minimalist vibe or go vintage with flowers and gold flakes.
